Baby Eagle Takes Flight

Matthew Hender is a veteran musician from Newfoundland, who has taken his first foray as a singer-songwriter. Performing all the music on his own, his first album, Baby Eagle, is an offering of 60s/70s rock influenced music inspired by writers like Harry Nilsson, Pete Townshend and Randy Newman.

Matthew is a classically trained bass player who has been playing in the St. John's music community for over 10 years. He has played with Amelia Curran, The Long Distance Runners and currently with The Kubasonics and Bluegrass bands, Crooked Stovepipe and High & Lonesome. He has had the pleasure of touring all across Canada as well as eastern Europe, Japan, and Russia and he has been nominated for and won MusicNL, ECMA, and Juno awards as a bass player with various projects.

If you’re having a miserable day, let Matthew in as he eases your mind and heals your soul from the burdens that modern life can bring.
